Courageous neighbors save man from apartment fire in Vienna-Donaustadt
On Saturday, an incident occurred in Vienna-Donaustadt, which put the emergency services on alert. A 38-year-old was seriously injured in a fire in his ground floor apartment on Donaufelder Strasse. The Viennese police reported on Sunday about the dramatic events that were going on after 8 p.m.
Two brave house residents, a 22-year-old and a 26-year-old, noticed the extreme smoke development in the courtyard of the multi-party house. They acted promptly and hurried to help. The 38-year-old had tried in vain to escape from the highly smoky apartment via the patio door. The two young men entered the door and managed to put the already injured man outside.
rescue measures and fire brigade action
The Vienna professional fire brigade was quickly on site and initiated extensive evacuation measures in the house. Thanks to the quick intervention, the fire on the ground floor apartment could be deleted quickly. The situation could have been much worse if the fire brigade would not have acted so quickly.
Four house residents, including the two first aiders, received primary care from the Vienna professional rescue. They could be released into home care after treatment. The 38-year-old, on the other hand, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and is currently in a critical but stable condition.
The cause of the fire is still unclear, but the State Criminal Police Office is currently not assuming an external fault. The fire group has started the investigation to clarify the exact circumstances and identify possible causes of the fire. The quick reaction and courage of the first aiders may have saved life and prevented further injuries. Further information on this incident can be found on Kurier.at
