Intercultural coffee enjoyment: seniors celebrate in Brigittenau
In the heart of Brigittenau, the pensioner club 20 recently organized an intercultural coffee chat, which is part of the month for senior citizens. Over 60 guests visited the event, the sociable get -together with culinary delights such as Baklava and apple strudel. Among the participants was Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ), who emphasized the importance of such gatherings.
Every third Viennese resident over 65 years has foreign origin or other citizenship, with many of the Turkish culture. This diversity makes Vienna an exciting melting pot in which various traditions and ways of life meet. The coffee chat took the opportunity to discuss differences and similarities in a relaxed atmosphere.

On Friday, October 18, guests came to the pensioner club to chat with delicious snacks and drinks. The meeting was rounded off by the sounds of the SAZ artist Mansur Bildik, which contributed to an inviting and festive mood. Mayor Ludwig emphasized that encounters like this promote social cohesion and make Vienna one of the most livable cities worldwide.
"The Viennese senior clubs are a place where people of different generations and origin can come together," said the mayor. He sees such events as an excellent way to build bridges between cultures and to strengthen understanding for each other.

The intercultural coffee chat was just one of many events as part of the senior citizens' month, which will be celebrated for the 14th time this year. Sabine Hofer-Gruber, the representative for senior citizens of the city of Vienna, said that the entire month promotes numerous encounters and inspiring activities.
A total of over 100 free events were organized, which took place in cooperation with various partner organizations. The event "Baklava meets Apfelstrudel" was carried out by the pensioners club of the Wiener Pensionist residential building funds together with the integration and diversity of the city of Vienna.
