New resolutions in the Alsergrund district parliament: Security in focus
The first session after the summer vacation was recently held in the Alsergrund district parliament, which was characterized by a calm and factual atmosphere. In this session, which was led by the district chief Saya Ahmad (SPÖ), a total of 14 applications were treated, with remarkably large number of applications were rejected. Ahmad took the opportunity to look back on past months and present current projects, with a special focus on greening measures to combat the climate crisis.
The expansion of the Lichtaler Park must be mentioned among the ongoing projects. In addition, measures to green the Simon-Denk-Gasse were decided and the school forecourt in Hahngasse was expanded. The Greens expressed the desire for a more comprehensive traffic calming in Hahngasse, while the FPÖ noted that the topic of family reunification was not treated in the meeting.changes in the district and security as a central topic
A current topic that came up at the meeting was personnel changes in the district parliament. Christina Paul took over the mandate from the resigned Christa Schmid , which could not take part in the previous session due to a defective lift. Paul explained that it was humiliating for her to be worn, which led to intensive discussions. Ahmad denied the allegations against the office regarding inadequate support and pointed out that numerous measures were taken to ensure accessibility.
In the follow-up, Gerald Prucher also presented itself as the new club chairman of the Neos, after Rudolf Mayrhofer-Grünbühel is now the deputy chairman. The topic of security was at the top of the agenda in the applications of the session. The Greens demanded a traffic calming in Glasergasse, which was questioned by the ÖVP, since there was no clarity in the exceptional regulations. Ultimately, the application was accepted.
Another application aimed to make the school route to the "Lycée Français de Vienne" safer by better planning the area of Liechtensteinstrasse between Thurngasse and Fürstengasse. The NEOS wanted to wait until the construction work on the U5 is completed in order not to have to carry out early dismantling. The application was finally rejected.
The NEOS also emphasized the creation of a fairness zone for cyclists on the university road, which was rejected by the SPÖ, as there are already driven paths. An application that treated the mouse plague in the Servitengasse was withdrawn to achieve a faster solution with the MA42 - Wiener city gardens.
