Modernization in the AKH Vienna: Energy -saving elevators for faster trips
In general hospital (AKH) Vienna, extensive modernization work of ten elevators has made significant progress. These current adjustments aim to lower energy consumption and at the same time increase comfort for users. Around 1,400 trips take place in the AKH every day, which makes the elevators an indispensable part of the company.
The modernization was carried out in cooperation between the elevator manufacturer Otis and the Austrian health service provider VAMED. The renovation of the nine and bed lifts as well as a fire brigade elevator not only increases efficiency, but also the waiting time for the patients.
important technical improvements
The iron elevators have not been fundamentally updated since the 1990s. Now new technologies are available: the drive, the engines as well as the controls and the interior cladding have been completely replaced. These improvements should shorten the waiting time for passengers by up to 50 percent. Gerhard Gruner, OTI's branch manager, explains the advantages: "The comparison of the operating data shows a reduction in energy consumption by 40 percent."
A particularly innovative function is the new “Compassplus” target selection control, which behaves like a virtual concierge. Instead of simply getting into the next elevator, passengers are intelligently assigned to the elevator, which brings them to their destination with the fewest stops. This not only leads to faster transport, but also to a further reduction in energy consumption.
Thanks to these modernizations, the AKH Vienna not only gains technical efficiency, but also sets standards in the combination of innovation and user -friendliness. The elevators play a crucial role in everyday operation, and the recent changes show that the hospital is actively working to constantly improve the patient service. In addition to the elevators, the AKH also invests in other areas, for example through sustainable wooden bed stations. The article by www.meinbezirk.at .
