Cheese and zichories: an enjoyable weekend in marketing!

On November 22nd and 23rd, the market hall in Vienna can expect an extraordinary event under the inviting motto "All cheese, all zichories!". In this special event, visitors can enjoy a delicious combination of exquisite cheese specialties and an informative crash course about zichories. The Zichorie, a vegetable variety that is often still unknown in Austria, is presented here as a secret star of the winter. It is rich in bitter substances and is often also referred to as the "Salad of autumn and winter time", whereby the event has set itself the goal of focusing on this healthy and tasty ingredient.

The variety of Zichories, which is already very popular in Italian markets, is focused on the event in Austria. Friday, where two experts expect visitors: Wolfgang Palme, a vegetable researcher specializes in winter vegetables, and the top chef Johann Reisinger offer exciting insights and tastings. With their support, guests learn more about the preparation and the health benefits of these delicious salads.

Experience cheese diversity up close

Numerous cheese producers from all over Austria will also be present in the market hall. Renowned companies such as "Vom Schoberhof", "Mandls Ziegenhof", "Käsehütte Maria Taferl" and "Kasplatzl" present their specialties. Whether spicy mountain cheese, mild cut cheese or aromatic goat cheese - there is something suitable for every/every cheese lover. This event not only celebrates the variety of domestic cheese culture, but also underlines the importance of regional production.

A special highlight also takes place by visiting Andrea Pölz from the Lower Austria Chamber of Agriculture and Andrea Ghedina from Smarties Bio. Ghedina brings seeds of traditional zichories that are to be grown in Austria. This initiative is in line with the efforts to enrich agriculture in Austria with sustainable and traditional cultivation methods.

The market has set itself the task of bringing producers and consumers closer to each other and acting as a platform for the exchange. The event is not only an opportunity to try local delicacies, but also a way to learn something new about healthy eating and regional products.

The opening times of the market hall market are every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The address is Severingasse 7, 1090 Vienna.
