New contact point for mental health: outpatient clinic opens on Alsergrund!
A new child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient clinic with a day clinic was opened in Vienna, which is intended for children and adolescents with psychological problems and disorders. Katrin skala, the head of the outpatient clinic, emphasized that a comprehensive team of specialists, nursing staff and therapists from various disciplines, such as occupational therapy and music therapy, is available to ensure holistic care. This was announced in a presentation, whereby the importance of the day clinic, which serves as an important aid to psychiatric diagnosis, was also highlighted orf.at reported.
This new outpatient clinic is the fifth facility of its kind in Vienna and part of a plan to install a total of six such institutions by 2030. City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) confirmed that the City of Vienna is on the right track to offer a wide range of treatment options for psychosocial illnesses. A special mention was made of the financial support from the Austrian Health Fund, which covers half of the costs. Agnes Streissler-Führer, chairwoman of the ÖGK regional office committee in Vienna, explained that development risks can be reduced through early support. Use of the outpatient clinic is free of charge for parents psd-wien.at added.
The outpatient clinic strives not only to help young people medically, but also to support their social, academic and professional development. Ewald Lochner, coordinator for psychiatry, addiction and drug issues, emphasized that all psychiatric illnesses can be treated in these facilities. This is done through targeted offers that are directly integrated into the young people's respective life situations. First Level Support, an initial telephone contact point, plays a crucial role in precisely controlling the support required.
