The new traffic light, which was the first of its kind to be installed in Vorarlberg, is now intended to provide a remedy. Compliance with the speed limit is monitored using a modern speed measurement system called “Time for Speed”, developed by Austrian experts. If the limit is exceeded, a red light phase is activated, which only leads to fines if the limit is ignored.
Mayor Jürgen Blacha emphasized the signaling effect of the new traffic lights for greater traffic safety. Mayor Walter Gohm also sees this as a deterrent to evasive traffic. The measures are intended to encourage more responsible driving and make streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
