Alexander Schmidt, who returned after almost one and a half years of absence, stood unexpectedly in the goal for the VSV. He had previously fought for the Bregenzerwald and was now allowed to help out in goal due to injuries by the regular keeper JP Lamoureux and Rene Swette as well as the late arrival of newcomer Joe Cannata.

With a wide grin, Schmidt entered the arena, where he was enthusiastically received by his old teammates and fans. In the first third, he demonstrated his class by defending ten shots alone.
