Art in small formats: intimacy and diversity in Feldkirch
Art in small formats: intimacy and diversity in Feldkirch
The artists: Inner association "Kunstvorarlberg" starts this year's "Little Formats" exhibition in Villa Claudia in Feldkirch on November 23, 2024. This is already the third edition of this series, which took place in 2019 and 2021. The curator May-Britt Nyberg, a Danish artist living in Feldkirch, initiated the format and introduces the works that are not allowed to exceed the dimensions of 25 by 25 by 25 centimeters.
A total of 31 artists have participated in this exciting initiative inside. Despite their small size, the works offer plenty of space for creative forms of expression and encourage the viewers to think. Small -format works of art can often have a more intensive effect and present the artists with the challenge of concentrating on the essentials.
versatile forms of expression
A remarkable aspect of small formats is the versatility of the materials used. The exhibited work is created from a wide variety of techniques and media, including painting, photography, drawing and plastic. This diversity enables the artist to implement their ideas in a creative way. Many use smaller formats to try out new techniques or to work sketchy, which can lead to an innovative handling of materials.
The works of the exhibition impressively show how different artists: deal with the topic inside. Dorothea Rosenstock from Switzerland presents her series “Farver memories”, which combines cotton fabrics with paper threads. She explains that the use of tissue forms the basis for her painting.
The artist duo Bildstein/Glatz shows a series of work that integrates materials from previous projects and stimulates thinking about transience. The assemblages reflect the process -related character of art and create a snapshot of creative work.
Birgit Konzett from Bregenz uses the crumpled plastic ceiling in her work, which she paints with acrylic paint and ink. Your exhibition entitled "Homage to Eternity" should give a fleeting everyday object a deeper meaning.
The photographer Ivo birds captured interesting insights into the topic of "campsite" and looked at the quiet winter phases. His view for details and the charming aspects of empty parking spaces underline the peculiarity of this rediscovered living environment.
May-Britt Nyberg, the curator, exhibits her sculptural "flat fish", which are made from disposable materials and indicate the challenges of climate change. Your artistic work reflects personal and social topics by stimulating the viewers to rethink.
Kunstvorarlberg not only promotes individualized artists through this exhibition, but also creates a space for creative renewal. Overall, the artists presented show: an impressive range of talents and ideas inside.
