Together against violence: improvisation theater as an intervention in Feldkirch
Together against violence: improvisation theater as an intervention in Feldkirch
In a remarkable step towards sensitization to domestic violence, an interactive play under the title "Experience and change" at 7:30 p.m. in the Theater am Saumarkt will be listed on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. This event is part of the "16 days against violence against women" campaign and is organized in close cooperation between the public libraries Feldkirch, Stop districts without partner power and the Theater am Saumarkt.
The piece is presented by the improvisation theater and offers the viewers the opportunity to actively immerse themselves in scenes that are about the complex topic of domestic violence. This innovative theater form is a forum theater in which the audience is not only a spectator, but can also intervene in the plot. This allows participants to experience their own emotions and discuss possible solutions.
after the performance: discussion round and expert opinions
Following the performance, there is a discussion round in which the audience has the opportunity to reflect on the scenes shown and to discuss solutions. Experts of the IFS victim protection and perpetrator work institutions will be on site to answer questions and provide further information.
The event is aimed at people aged 16 and over and admission is free. The aim is to create greater awareness of domestic violence and to promote changes in society. The event is supported by the Stop cooperation cities of Bregenz, Feldkirch, Hohenems and Lustenau as well as by various ministries that deal with violence.
Another highlight of this series is the reading of Simone Hirth on Friday, November 29, 2024, also at 7:30 p.m. in the Theater am Saumarkt. In her work "Malus" Hirth illuminates how the protagonist Eva can free herself from a toxic relationship. The reading contains a subsequent round of talks in which the audience can get into conversation with the author and the IFS representative Nikola Furtenbach.
Simone Hirth was born in Freudenstadt and studied at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. With her book "Malus" she leads the readers into a profound story that focuses on the topic of toxic masculinity and social challenges. The organizers expect an interested audience and cordially invite everyone to take part in these important discussions.
The registration for the event takes place either by email to office.vorarlberg@gewaltschutzzentrum.at or directly at the theater am Saumarkt at office@saumarkt.at. These initiatives aim to offer a platform for dealing with and combating domestic violence.
