In a spectacular trial at the Feldkirch Regional Court, a 42-year-old man, a Croat born in Switzerland, was sentenced to 11 years in prison. He was instrumental in the large -scale trade with cocaine, whereby he smuggled and driven out more than 63 kilograms of drugs over a period of almost two years. According to the indictment, he was able to acquire the amount of over 57 kilograms of cocaine in the Netherlands and commissioned couriers to transport them across borders by means of prepared vehicles, such as the Kleine Zeitung reported.

More than 38 kilograms of addictive gaps came to local dealers in Vorarlberg, while large quantities also smuggled into Switzerland. In addition, the defendant planned the distribution of another six kilograms of cocaine, 20 kilograms of cannabis herb and 27,500 Ecstasy tablets. But the actual sale was ultimately not made, but the sales value is estimated at around 38,000 euros per kilogram of cocaine. An accomplice of the man has already been convicted of his involvement. The defendant's confession was recognized as the only reason for mitigation after he had previously been detained in Switzerland for four years.
The judge not only emphasized the serious misconduct, but also appealed to a decay of 628,000 euros, which underlines the severity of the deeds. The process is not yet final, but the penalty of up to 15 years gives a clear indication of the legal situation in such drug matters as NÖN also explained.
