Christmas with Coca-Cola: magical moments and new experiences
Vienna. At this year's Christmas season, Coca-Cola presents an exciting mix of tradition and modern technologies to spread the spirit of Christmas in over 75 countries. The campaign “The world needs more Santas” pursues the goal of arousing the magic of the festive season in each of us. The iconic Coca-Cola Santa Claus will also drive his truck throughout Austria in 2024 to share the joy and warmth of the Christmas season at a total of 20 stops in all federal states.
Coca-Cola goes one step further this season and is launching an innovative, AI-based experience. Customers have the opportunity to exchange ideas with a snow globe avatar. A personalized animation is created based on personal Christmas memories and can be shared via social media. This experience, which is activated by scanning a QR code on specially designed Coca-Cola bottles or doses, uses advanced AI to create a unique experience for every individual user.
colorful Christmas magic with prices
Of course, the fans can also win something. Coca-Cola has prepared magical prices in the form of experiences and gifts. The main prize is a trip to Santa's home to Rovaniemi in Lapland. There is also the option of participating in an exclusive cooking class or winning festive Coca-Cola products. In order to take part, codes can be found under the closures of the Christmas packaging, which can be redeemed against coins in the Coca-Cola app. The app is available free of charge in the usual app stores.
The traditional Santa Claus truck will stop in Austria from mid-November to shortly before Christmas. Coca-Cola, who has great positive feedback from fans in recent years, motivated Santa Claus to send Santa on the streets again. "The positive response to our activities has taught us how important these moments are for our consumers," explains Valeria Chavarri Rodriguez, the fire manager of Coca-Cola Austria.
Visitors have the opportunity to not only meet Santa Claus at the stops in cities such as Bregenz, Schladming and Vienna, but also to enjoy a variety of special experiences. This includes a AI photo box and the acquisition of merchandising products in favor of Ronald McDonald Kinderhilfe. A musical choir ensures the festive atmosphere, while Coca-Cola points out how important it is to show small gestures of care in the run-up to Christmas.
advertising with heart
In contrast to many festive commercials, the Coca-Cola campaign shows a special focus on interpersonal relationships and the importance of friendly acts this year. A TV spot, which is accompanied by the British singer Celeste, illustrates that a little good deed is enough to activate the "inner Santa Claus". "We want to promote warmth and compassion and hope that our campaign inspires to be there for others," said Rodriguez. The Coca-Cola products are available in their traditional festive designs and are presented step by step on the shelves of food trade. From the 0.5L PET bottle to various reusable glass bottles, Santa Claus will shine on the labels and remind consumers of the festive season.
The campaign "The world needs more Santaen" is supported by WPP Open X, under the direction of VML, in partnership with Ogilvy PR, Essencemediacom, Accenture and JKR. By combining tradition and innovation, Coca-Cola hopes to leave a lasting impression in the hearts of people and make the true spirit of Christmas tangible.
