Colorful renovation: Children beautify playhouse by the lake
A colorful spectacle took place on September 28, 2024 at the Weidach elementary school when numerous children redesigned an old playhouse at the lake playground. Under the guidance of experts from the Kunsthaus Bregenz, the children transformed the aging little house into a colorful work of art. “We first discussed what we wanted to paint,” reports the young children’s reporter Marlene, who was actively involved in the campaign.
The preparations began inside the school, where the students brainstormed ideas and drew up the plan for painting the house. After the first brainstorming session, the children worked hands-on: the house first had to be sanded and then taped off before the brushes could be used. “Just when we really started working, we got hungry,” Marlene continues. It was a positive shock for everyone when they found out that the mayor of Bregenz would bring fresh pizza to strengthen the hard-working painters.
Visit of the mayor
Although the mayor arrived a little late, the pizza was the highlight of the event. "It was really delicious! We were allowed to ask him questions during the meal," remembers Marlene. It turned out that the mayor himself has memories of the playhouse and spent good times there as a child.
After the social gathering, it was finally time to fill the house with color. “We were allowed to make the house as colorful as we wanted and it turned out really beautiful,” she enthuses, adding that all the children are very proud of their result. “Come over and see for yourself!”
