Snow removal in Bludenz: Together for safe roads in winter

With the falling thermometer and the first snowfall in Bludenz, the city has prepared well for winter challenges. The city's snow space is ready to keep the streets safe, and Mayor Simon Tschann emphasizes: "Our team is well motivated and well prepared." In order to support the Bludenz population in snowy times, the cooperation between the city and the citizens is of great importance.

The snow removal begins early in the morning at four o'clock, and 22 employees of the building yard and the nursery are in action. A balanced fleet of two trucks, two tractors, a local tractor and three walking space devices are also mobilized. In normal snowfall, the city uses up to 200 tons of split and 270 tons of road salt. This preparation is crucial, and the storage capacity for road salt was increased in previous years in order to be able to survive the winter well. In the case of intensive snowfalls, there are also additional forces supported by regional freights and farmers. The costs for such a clear day are around 25,000 euros.

guidelines for snow removal

But responsibility does not end with the city; Property owners and vehicle owners are also responsible. In Bludenz, homeowners are encouraged to clear the snow from walking bars, paths and stairs during the winter time between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. In the pedestrian zone and in residential streets, too, the street edges must be cleared and scattered in one meter.

Special attention must also be taken into account the regulations regarding sales huts as well as the removal of snowwuts and ice formation of roofs. It is not allowed to clear the snow of properties on the street so as not to endanger traffic safety, whereby this obligation does not apply to undeveloped agricultural and forestry areas.

In the overall context, a strong common procedure is required. "If we all tackle together, we can look forward to the white splendor from above," says Mayor Tschann, who underlines the importance of cooperation.

The citizens can contact the municipal building yard if there are questions or suggestions for snow removal. This can be done by phone at 05552/63621 or by email to stadt@bludenz.at.
