Karateka Stephan Dertinger achieves 1st Dan in Chiari: Congratulations!

At the end of October there was a remarkable event in the sport of karate when Stephan Dertinger successfully passed his 1st Dan exam. The Bludenz karateka was not alone, as he had the support of the coaching team at the Samurai Karate Club Bludenz and took part in a special event in Chiari, Italy.

Preparing for this demanding test took months. On the day of the exam itself there was a two-hour course in which all karateka took part. Under the guidance of renowned masters such as Fugazza, Cardinale, Grasselli, Rocchetti and Prete, the participants trained in groups divided according to their belt level. In these training sessions, all parts of the exam - Kihon (basic techniques), Kata (forms), Bunkai (defensive techniques) and Kumite (fighting) - were practiced intensively, with the masters giving valuable tips.

The exam for 1st Dan

After the course, it was time to recognize the seriousness of the situation. Stephan appeared before the examination committee, which consisted of experienced examiners, to take his Shodan (1st black belt) examination together with other karatekas from Italy and Austria. With great concentration, fighting spirit and a determined kime, which in karate is meant as the strength that comes from the body, he demonstrated his skills in all disciplines.

The test was a real challenge and demanded everything from Stephan. Fortunately, despite the high demands, he was able to impress and, after successfully completing the course, received the award that he had worked towards for so long: the black belt.

After this great performance, the entire coaching team warmly congratulated Stephan and wished him continued fun and motivation during training. “As the saying goes, karate actually only begins with the 1st Dan,” it was emphasized, which underlines the importance of this transition phase in karate.

The sequence of technical processes and the philosophy behind karate should not only be viewed as a sport, but also as a way of life. This success not only represents a personal triumph for Stephan Dertinger, but also shows how the sport of karate is promoted in Bludenz. Such achievements not only encourage the trainee themselves, but also have a positive effect on the entire karate community.
