Building offensive of the ÖBB: Vorarlberg is arming rail traffic for the future!
Klaus, Österreich - In 2025, an extensive construction program for the rail infrastructure will be implemented in Vorarlberg, which is designed for a total of 74 million euros. The ÖBB are planning to modernize the rail network and increase customer comfort. One of the most important projects is to create a new barrier -free stop in Klaus, where construction work has been running since April 2024. These include an underpass, new lifts and the extension of the platforms to 220 meters in order to be able to operate double sets in the future. The stop is to be completed by 2026, reports Orf Vorarlberg .
The project at the train station in Wolfurt is also particularly ambitious. Since autumn 2024 there has been a construction site that includes the construction of new Park & Ride facilities and the increase in the platforms. This improvement enables better access for all passengers. In addition, the platforms are already equipped with photovoltaic elements that contribute to sustainable energy production, such as Krone informed about the new renovation measures. The extensive work in Wolfurt should also be completed by the end of 2026.further developments in Vorarlberg
In addition, renewal work on the car loading facility in Feldkirch, where the bicycle parking spaces are also modernized and expanded to a total of 226 places. In Bludenz, work on a new forecourt and the Bike & Ride facility begin at the beginning of the year. Another significant point is the creation of a new stop in Feldkirch-Toster, which will replace the disused TISIS stop.
The ÖBB not only focuses on local improvements, but also plans to maintain the Arlberg route between Ötztal and Bludenz. During course blocks, which are planned from April 23 to 29 and from October 6 to November 3, 2025, a rail replacement traffic is offered by bus. These measures are intended to significantly increase the quality of rail transport in Vorarlberg and are part of a comprehensive investment plan to promote public transport.
