Triumph for Egger-Lienz: Students win fairy tale price 2025!
The 2I class of the Egger-Lienz middle school won first place in the "Class" category on June 13, 2025 at the Tyrolean fairy tale prize. With their creative film "Dragon Feders", they prevailed against around 300 entries from all over Tyrol. The jury was enthusiastic about the imagination, the originality and the technical implementation of the project. The story is based on the fairy tale "The Dragon Feders", which was further developed as part of German lessons. In the project, the students received support from the illustrator Christian "Yeti" Beirer, who designed the texts and caricatures of the fairy tale figures.
The students had decided: inside, implementing the fairy tale in the form of a film, which is why they included real locations such as the Franciscan monastery, Bruck Castle, the schoolyard and the Isel. After a joint visit to the Tivoli outdoor pool, her work was first offered in the solemn atmosphere of the ORF state studio in Innsbruck. The students: Inside, their victory was allowed to celebrate and returned home with pride and joy.
About the Tyrolean Fairy Tale Prize
The award ceremony of the Tyrolean Märchen Prize has been organized for many years and is open to all children of elementary schools, special schools and middle schools. The submission period for the Tyrolean Fairy Tale Prize 2025 extended from January 16 to April 30, 2025. All participants received free admission to the "Magic Forest" event in the form of a VIP entry ticket. The competition encourages the students: inside, creatively dealing with fairy tales.
The students of the 1st and 2nd class elementary school are addressed in the first age group. The second age group comprises the 3rd and 4th classes as well as the special schools, while the third age group comprises students of the 1st and 2nd class AHS and MS. As part of the competition, the children should read stories and do their own ideas in the form of painting work. The tasks also included the further development of the history of "dragon springs" and the writing of an essay of a maximum of 400 words. Another remarkable result of the Tyrolean fairy tale award reached the 2nd class of the Sillian elementary school, which with her contribution “Rumpelstiltskin” achieved third place in the community work category. They won a voucher for the museum educational program "Hello Riese" in the Swarovski crystal worlds. This not only promotes the creativity of the students: inside, but also offers the possibility of an educational excursion into these fantastic environments. The visit took place in 2016 and the children had the opportunity to explore the wonder chambers and the landscape around the giant.
The excursions for the Sillian children were generously supported by regional partners such as the Juff department of the State of Tyrol, the market town, various restaurants and Raiffeisenbank Sillian.
For the commitment and creativity of the pupils, competitions such as the Tyrolean fairy tale price are an excellent springboard to discover and develop their own ideas and talents. This year's winners can also look forward to their success and the valuable experiences.
