The initiative aims to create resilient forests for future challenges. In the spring of 2025, the State Forest Garden in various districts will buy forest plants worth 960,000 euros and protective material of EUR 350,000. State Councilor Josef Geisler emphasizes that the measures created the basis for climate maths forests. "We have to protect the young trees of the weather and wild bite," says Geisler, which underlines the need for tree protection grilles and wooden plants, as reported by dolomitenstadt.
A dramatic part of the preparation is the procurement of up to six million trees in the next two years. These are intended to help to reforest the damages in North and East Tyrol and to ensure the protective function of the forests at short notice. At the same time, a "bark beetle measuring network" is established to keep an eye on the threat from pests. It is planned that casual measures to be undermined will quickly be tackled in order to minimize the pressure on the affected areas - especially since the remaining rootsticks rotten after five years and increases the risk of stone strokes and avalanches.
