The glamorous day of the Zillertal: Memories of great artists
in the Zillertal it was once a pulsating center for music and culture for many years. Apart from large events such as the Gauder Festival or Snowbombing, the region was an attraction for numerous concerts, theater performances and cabaret evenings. Hannes Pramstraller, who headed the fortunes of the Europahaus Congress and Event Ges. N.B. R. in Mayrhofen from 1985 to 2011, was a key person in this outstanding era. Together with his partner Erich Roscher, they brought numerous well -known artists to the picturesque region.
"I like to remember the countless events that are no longer available in this form," reports Pramstraller. Over the years, an average of 600 events have been organized annually, which covered a wide range - from theater performances to classic concerts to folk music. Pramstraller and his team managed to bring greats like Wolfgang Ambros, the EAV and Konstantin Wecker to Mayrhofen. International acts such as Blood, Sweat & Tears and the Electric Light Orchestra also performed in the Zillertal. "Without my friend Erich Roscher, the whole thing would of course not have been possible because he had the connections to the big acts in England," he adds.
long -term tradition and important festivals
The "Country Blues & Folk" festival, which took place over a period of 25 years in Mayrhofen, should be particularly emphasized. It was popular far beyond the borders and attracted many renowned bands. "We were able to bring over 250 bands to the Zillertal and benefited from the fact that the US military invited these artists to entertain their soldiers," explains Pramstraller. The Zillertal fair, another important occasion, was also created under his direction and soon became a fixed point in the cultural life of the region.
Although the times when large international concerts took place apparently belong to the past, Pramstraller and Roscher can look back with a feeling of fulfillment. "Numerous friendships have emerged over the years, and it was a really unique time. Of course there were not only highlights, but this is the case in every business. One of the last great success was the performance of 'Silent Night - the True History', and I am proud to have been part of this memorable era," says Pramstraller, who is now enjoying and is full of memories. In view of Pramstraller's important contributions to the cultural scene in the Zillertal, it is to be hoped that there will be similar occasions again one day. For the residents and visitors, the memory of present concerts and unforgettable evenings remains alive, and it will be exciting to see whether the cultural possibilities in the valley can be revived.
