Reutte rides a bike: Together for sustainable mobility and health

In the city of Reutte, cycling is very important. In order to counteract aggressive car traffic and CO₂ emissions, the city administration and the climate and energy model region (KEM) Nature Parkregion Lechtal-Reutte have launched the "Reutte rides Rad" initiative. This action aims to raise awareness of sustainable forms of mobility and to promote cycling to everyday locomotion.

The idea is simple: If you use your bike for everyday ways during this time, you will receive a snack as a small reward. "Cycling is not only good for the environment, it also strengthens health and needs a lot less space than cars," says Renate Litzelmann, Kem manager. These advantages are often overlooked. A comparison between bicycle and car parking spaces at large companies such as the Plansee Group clearly illustrates this.

The health benefits of cycling

The bike offers a practical way to integrate movement into everyday life. Regardless of whether it is going to shop, work or school, many people feel the wheel as the fastest means of transport. "The paths that are often considered a duty can be used sensibly on the bike," explains Litzelmann.

The organization team of this campaign was impressed by the participants, who, for example, cycled from Weißenbach to Reutte or even from Bach to Breitenwang. "We would like to further promote cycling as a sustainable form of mobility. If you regularly pedal, you not only do something for the climate, but also for your own health," said the organizers.

Margit Dablander, chairwoman of the city of Reute's environmental committee, adds: "More bicycle traffic means less traffic load in the city center." This is an important point because it leads to a significantly better quality of life in the city. The cycling infrastructure is continuously improved to make cycling even more attractive.

The climate and energy model region Lechtal-Reutte consists of 23 municipalities, the focus of which is on sustainable energy generation and use. Their activities aim to sensitize the population to the topics of renewable energies, energy efficiency and sustainable mobility. Interested parties can do more experienced on www.tt.com
