Free mobility day: Discover the Euregio without a car!

On November 9th, the residents of Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino can expect a very special event: the Euregio Mobility Day grants numerous users free travel on public transport throughout the European region. Holders of a valid annual or semester ticket as well as those with a Tyrolean Family Pass or the EuregioFamilyPass can use buses, trains and selected cable cars in regional local transport on this day at no additional cost.

The offer applies to everyone who already has a public transport subscription. However, long-distance trains such as Railjet, Frecciargento and Eurocity are excluded from this one-off bonus. Over the last few years, the day of action has established itself as a successful initiative in terms of participation and acceptance by the population.

Promotion of cross-border mobility

The South Tyrolean governor and Euregio president Arno Kompatscher emphasizes the importance of this day: "We invite you not only to explore your own surroundings, but also to visit various areas of the Euregio without a car. In doing so, we are putting our motto 'Overcoming borders' into practice." Tyrol's Governor Anton Mattle describes the opportunity to motivate citizens and guests on both sides of the Brenner to switch to public transport.

In addition, Maurizio Fugatti, the governor of Trentino, highlights the social relevance of the day. “It is an excellent opportunity to experience the cultural and political connections of our three regions and to experience the common identity as a Euregio,” he explains. These joint efforts aim to promote fluid cross-border mobility.

Five interior ministries have demonstrated their commitment by emphasizing the importance of public transport tijekom this day. State Mobility Councilor René Zumtobel calls on all of the more than 180,000 VVT regular guests and the approximately 65,000 family pass holders to use the mobility day for conscious climate protection.

Participants are invited to share their experiences and impressions about the different means of transport and the day itself. Those interested can find detailed information about the day of action at www.europaregion.info/aktionstag as well as current reporting on the Euregio's offerings can be found by readers here.

With the Euregio Mobility Day campaign, the three-country region is once again drawing attention by highlighting the advantages of public transport and sustainable mobility for everyone living in the region.
