32. General assembly: Altwidum Association strengthens youth work and education

In Landeck, the 32nd General Assembly of the Association for the Preservation of the Old Widum recently took place. Chairman Stefan Walch welcomed some prominent guests, including Dean Martin Komarek and Vice Mayor Niederbacher. The late Dipl.-Ing. Falch mentioned, who had significantly supported the association. Walch also reported pleased about the expansion of open youth work: a new youth center was opened in ZAMS, which is already very well received under the direction of Sabine Sturm and is carried by the association.

The commitment of the association is not limited to youth work. From January 2024, Ms. Martina Pfandler will take over the educational work and regional support of the Catholic Education Plant in a dean's job. Your work aims to achieve people with various topics, which is of great importance for the cohesion of the region.

The open youth work team in Landeck and Zams has achieved remarkable results. Norbert Zangerl proudly reported that over 15,000 young people were reached. A special highlight was the winning of the Austrian Youth Prize in Vienna for a submitted video about civil courage. The previous offers in the youth clubs are diverse and include excursions, parties and creative workshops that are well received by young people. Mobile youth work under the direction of Mario Pircher has been active in the city center since 2018.

In addition, the cash auder Hermann Schöpf reported on the financial statements and praised the precise work of the cashier Franz Handle, whose accurate dealing with the club finances was emphasized.

outlook on renovation work

Mayor Niederbacher and Dean Komarek thanked for the commitment of the association and gave an outlook on planned renovation work in the new widum. The Dean informed about the need to check the situation before the start of the work and to involve the monument office. The handicapped accessible access is a prerequisite and the work should be completed by 2026, with the public being informed in good time.
