Climate protection in Tyrol: 164 new measures for a sustainable future!
Tirol, Österreich - A comprehensive package of measures to combat climate change in Tyrol takes shape. The governor Anton Mattle (ÖVP) announced that Tyrol will build on the success of the previous initiative with a new program, in which 188 measures were already implemented from 2022 to 2024. New projects, such as the introduction of a drinking water fountain map and the increased installation of photovoltaic modules, are now intended to further strengthen the commitment of the Tyroleans for renewable energies. Mattle emphasizes that hydropower in particular is a key factor for climate protection and the securing of favorable electricity prices, as tirol.orf.at reports.
The governor's deputy Philip Wohlgemuth (SPÖ) adds that these measures are not only environmentally friendly, but also offer economic advantages by reducing energy costs and creating local jobs. The State Councilor Rene Zumtobel (SPÖ) responsible for climate protection underlines that the transformations cannot be carried out immediately, but require close cooperation with the population to successfully implement the program.

Until January 20, the Tyrolean citizens have the opportunity to publicly examine the current measures plan for the Tyrolean climate and sustainability strategy. In fact, the energy consumption per person in Tirol has dropped by 8 percent since 2018, which according to the monitoring report on the sustainability strategy is a positive development.
