Double victory for Leitner: Tension at the Kanzi Cup start in Riefensberg!
On January 8, 2025, 16 children, students and young people of the TG took part in the Kanzi Cup start in the Austrian Riefensberg-Hoch sled. The balance in the two giant slaloms was mixed, since there were difficult conditions due to a hair dryer. The slope was not frozen and represented a major challenge for the participants. Despite these adverse circumstances, Lena Ströbele and Elias Ostersspey (both U16) each won a race.
Theo Felder, who took second place in the second race, emerged in the U14 area. Finja Friedrich was the only TG runner to finish both runs; It reached the ranks five and six. Josina Friedrich, Franziska Zenzen and Radu-Andrei Manea made it only once to the finish and took places seven and nine. The fall of Hanna Marie Ostersspey in the first race was particularly unfortunate, which could no longer start injured.services of the younger participants
In the afternoon, the younger participants drove a giant slalom with short tips in light sunshine. Tobias Leitner (U8) had two victories. Ludwig Felder (U12) had a big mistake in the first run, but showed his potential with the second best term in the second run. Rafael Vesa (U12) reached the squares nine and eight, while Fabian Leitner Eighter became eighth in the first race, but left in the second race. Felix Stöferle (U10) came to fifth place twice, and Noah Ostersspey (U10) took seven and eight ranks. Letizia Vesa and Antonia Adamski ranked in the middle of the seventh up to eighth place.
The TG Skirrennteam is preparing for the next Kanzi Cup races on January 19 on the Unterjoch. In addition, Stefan Stöferle and Elias Ostersspey took part in the Lena Weiss Cup, where Stöferle (U14) took third place in the giant slalom on the first day, but left the second round on the second day. Elias Ostersspey completed the race in tenth place.
In the 2024/2025 season of the Alpine World Ski World Cup, which began with the giant slalom in Sölden at the end of October, almost 90 races are planned by the end of March. The FIS returns to proven venues, whereby the focus is on traditional disciplines. Two Nightrace races take place on the Planai in Schladming, and after a three-year break, a Super-G will be held on the foray in Kitzbühel. The Ski World Championship will be held in Saalbach from February 4 to 16, 2025, and a new discipline, the team combination, is introduced.
The next races are on the program in Levi and Gurgl, which will be held for both genders for the first time. The Alpine Ski World Cup continues in well-known places such as Val Gardena, Garmisch and Cortina. An important security update for this season is also the obligation to use Airbags for departure and Super-G, while a wildcard will make a return to the Ski World Cup for former professionals.
