Young people with disabilities: a call for inclusive education in Tyrol!
In Tyrol, there are serious concerns about the inclusion of young people with disabilities in the education system. According to a report by orf tirol , young people with disabilities in secondary level II are excluded from regular vocational training. This affects the school levels from 9th to 13th grade. There is a lack of a legal basis for integrative classes in this area, which means that many young people are referred to special job training for people with disabilities. Petra Flieger, coordinator of the youth advisory board of the Tyrolean monitoring committee, emphasizes that Austria is still far away from an inclusive education, as required in the Convention on Disability Rights.
