Tyrolean schnapps award 2024: Quality, tradition and innovation combined

The Tyrolean schnapps award celebrates a remarkable anniversary. For three decades, she has been bringing burners together to award the best schnapps and liqueurs in the country. Since its foundation, an impressive 15,972 samples from 3,717 participating companies have been submitted and evaluated. In 2024 the award will again offer a high level of quality.

in Innsbruck, the heart of Tyrol, are active about 4,000 burners. The schnapps award represents an important highlight in the industry. Around 30 years ago, the idea of award was created in response to legal changes that made it necessary to check the quality of the burning products. "Our goal was to increase the quality and economy of the rural schnapps and let the old craft revive," says Wendlin Juen from the Chamber of Agriculture, which launched the initiative.

Some of the first participants, such as Maria Pfandl and Stefan Nothdurter, look back on personal success and challenges. Maria remembered her first year at the award in 1997, when she was unable to convince, but decided on another commitment. "It's a matter close to the heart," she says, pointing out that the weather also brought challenges in the current season.

The award is not only a competition, but also a platform for exchange and further education. Many companies have continuously participated since the first edition and benefit from the feedback from the jurors and the comparison with other burners. "The recognition as a national winner has a special meaning for me," explains Pfandl. Demands adds that the reward has set trends in production that have had a positive impact on the market position of the Tyrolean products.

The submissions for the anniversary award 2024 show the impressive commitment of the Brenner. A total of 607 samples were submitted among the 101 participants, including 506 fires and 101 liqueurs. Fortunately, 92 percent of the companies have received awards for the remarkable quality of their products. "In the past we saw larger differences between the categories, today nuances often decide," explains Wendelin Juen about the high quality of the taxes.

Tyrolean schnapps award has established itself as an important quality feature over the years, not only in Germany, but also internationally. "The high quality is based on the best raw materials and manual skills," explains Josef Hechenberger, President of the Chamber of Agriculture. This award proves to be an integral part of promoting regional products and the value -adding economy.
