A dramatic incident occurred on February 4, 2025 in Salzburg, when a 40-year-old woman drove her vehicle off Aignerstraße while under the influence of alcohol and collided with a concrete pole. The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on a left-hand bend. The woman from the city of Salzburg suffered injuries of an indeterminate degree that required immediate medical attention from the Red Cross. She was then transported to the UKH Salzburg. The impact was so violent that the concrete pylon was significantly damaged and had to be dismantled by the professional fire department. The rescue work at the accident site lasted until 11:30 p.m. An alcohol test showed a reading of 0.9 mg/l and it emerged that the woman had been disqualified from driving in August last year. According to 5min.at, she will be reported after the police investigation is completed.

Cyclist injured in Untertauern

On the same day, but on May 27, 2023, another serious accident occurred when a 44-year-old cyclist collided head-on with the car of an 82-year-old German on Glacier Road in Untertauern. The older gentleman was on his way towards Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe when the cyclist came towards him down the valley. Despite a brutal emergency stop, he was unable to avoid a collision and the woman was thrown over the vehicle. She suffered serious injuries and had to be transported to the Innsbruck Clinic by rescue helicopter after initial treatment. The impact also caused a following car to crash into the rear of the accident victim's vehicle, but fortunately there was only material damage, as Klick Kärnten reported.
