Austria runs for Herzkinder: 14,798 participants give hope!
On November 12, 2025, the Herzlauf Austria 2025 took place throughout Austria. This event was not only a sporting challenge, but also an act of solidarity with children with heart disease. Over 10,000 people took part in the run, and a total of an incredible 14,798 runners registered in eight federal states. Together they covered a distance of 45,113.25 kilometers and raised an impressive donation total of 218,902.81 euros.
The proceeds from the heart run directly benefit the heart families in Austria. The event team, which consisted of the run organizer, the Herzlauf crew and the Herzkinder team, aimed to raise awareness of the challenges that many families face. Ambassador Werner “Running Stiefi” Stiefwieser was also part of the team and contributed to the motivation of the participants.
The mission of the Herzkinder Austria association
The Herzkinder Österreich association, which was founded in 2007, offers numerous support options for parents of children with heart disease. Every year, around 700 children in Austria are born with heart malformations, with two thirds of them requiring an operation in order to enjoy a healthy childhood. Many parents feel very helpless in this situation.
Herzkinder Austria provides contact and information points as well as teddy houses in Linz and Vienna. The association also organizes running events, holiday camps and supports research projects in the field of pediatric cardiology. Through close cooperation with several children's heart centers in Austria, including the children's heart center in Linz, Vienna and the children's cardiology departments in Innsbruck and Graz, the association can offer affected families targeted support.
Donations and support
The proceeds from the Herzlauf flow into important projects of the association. If you are interested, donations can be transferred to the Erste Bank donation account: IBAN: AT13 2011 1890 8909 8000. Supporters have the opportunity not only to make a tax-deductible contribution through their donation, but also to directly contribute to improving the lives of children with heart disease.
