Avalanche risk in the Zillertal: Huge search use for missing!

A large -scale search was launched in the Tyrolean Zillertal after a devastating avalanche exit on the Roßkopf (2576 meters). According to information from Krone , the avalanche was registered on Thursday afternoon at 12 p.m. The spill could be two winter athletes, whose fate is still uncertain. Several helicopters, including the "Libelle" police helicopter, as well as the mountain rescues from Mayrhofen and Tux, were alerted to look for possible victims.

Large rescue operation in Innsbruck

Also on Christmas Day there was an important avalanche accident below the Hafelekar mountain station in the Innsbruck north chain, such as Kurier reported. Here a large -scale deployment of the rescue workers was triggered when it was feared that a group of ten people could have been recorded by the avalanche. A total of three people were carried away by the avalanche, including a person who suffered minor injuries. While the mountain rescue teams from Hall and Innsbruck and several helicopters were in action, the operation was successfully ended after about an hour because no other spilled people were found. The risk of avalanches in the region was classified at level 3, ie "considerable".

The events in both regions illustrate the acute danger that exists through avalanches in the Alpine regions, especially during the ski season. In both cases, the emergency services were quickly and effectively mobilized to prevent possible losses and help those affected.
