Ski shock in Tulfes: Tag rope tears and hits skiers!
Tulfes, Österreich - An alarming incident shook the Glungezer ski area in Tulfes, Innsbruck-Land district at 12:50 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The dramatic incident occurred at the dragging lift "Calm tarte" when the carrying rope tore and hit the floor with a loud bang. At that time there were around 40 skiers at the lift. A 64-year-old Austrian was hit by the falling rope, but fortunately remained unharmed. However, his helmet was badly damaged, and he refused an examination in the hospital, reported 5min.at.
The lift personnel reaction was quick and efficient. All 40 affected people were brought to the middle station with skidoos, so that no other injuries were to be complained about. According to the Tyrol State Police Directorate, a first examination that a lift bracket had thrown up shortly before the first support and wrapped itself over the carrying rope. This bracket then stuck, which led to the destruction of the so -called "roll battery" and ultimately to fall of the carrying rope.
