Festive opening of the Leitlhaus: A new home for the community of Rum
The Leitlhaus in Rum opened its doors last Friday after eleven months of intensive renovation work. Numerous guests of honor, including Tyrol's Governor Anton Mattle, came to this ceremonial inauguration in the newly designed building opposite the town hall. The renaming of the historic building into a “house for everyone” is of great importance for the market town, which will offer a wide range of uses for cultural and social events in the future.
The inauguration ceremony started with a typical regional reception on the town hall square, at which the Speckbach Rifle Company Rum fired a volley of honor. The national music band Rum provided the musical accompaniment and contributed to the festive atmosphere with their playing. The traditional costume clubs, the flag delegations of the Tyrolean Kaiserjäger and the Rum Volunteer Fire Department were also present, which further underlined the festive character.
A place for community and culture
In his opening speech, Mayor Josef Karbon emphasized the importance of the new building for the community and praised the successful renovation of the house. “The Leitlhaus should become a meeting place for all generations,” said Karbon, referring to the accessibility guaranteed by the installation of a lift. There are now five rooms of different sizes available for rent in the building, which can be used by both clubs and individuals.
The investment of 2.4 million euros that the municipality has put into this project shows the commitment to creating a social and cultural center in Rum. In his speech, Governor Anton Mattle emphasized the social importance of such facilities and thanked the community for the great commitment: “If this is a house for clubs, then it is also a house for everyone, and that is wonderful!”
After the official speeches, the house was blessed by Pastor Christoph Frischmann. Mayor Karbon then invited the guests on a tour of the modernized premises. The celebrations ended with drinks and culinary delights prepared by the BO’s BBQ team. The zither player Josef Nolf also provided additional musical entertainment and thus contributed to the successful atmosphere.
Together with a recent open day, the community gave residents the opportunity to view the new Leitlhaus in person and get an idea of the new space. Here, seniors and young people should benefit equally from the intensive community activities that can now be offered.
