In Tyrol, citizens have been able to rely on the support of the state folklore lawyer for 35 years. This independent advisory and complaint office was founded in 1989 and has since shown an impressive balance sheet: more than 150,000 contacts are recorded. The number of contacts this year alone shows that the population has great confidence in the institution: in 2023 there were already 3,739 contacts.

The way to the ombudsman
At the national level, the public prosecutor has existed since 1977, but in Tyrol you wanted a model that is closer to people. In 1989 the first regional prosecutor, Helmuth Tschiderer, was chosen by several successors to Doris Winkler-Hofer, who has been in office since 2022.
The state prosecutor is based at Meraner Straße 5 in Innsbruck. Your team consists of eight employees, including the handicapped lawyer Kristof Widhalm.
