Modern school dormitory in Imst: Place for 130 boys created

In Imst, the Agricultural State Institute (LLA) has completed an important renovation and renovation project. The renovation of the student dormitory for boys and the modernization of the main building open up new opportunities for the students and rely on sustainability and contemporary learning conditions. With a total of 14.7 million euros investment, the project has attracted a lot of attention.

When the construction work was ceremonized, the deputy governor Josef Geisler was also present. He emphasized how important a beneficial learning environment is: "Learning is best possible if the surroundings are right." The renovation now enables a modern school location, which at the same time also takes into account the requirements of monument protection. "Projects like this are not only a prime example of a timely school location, but also an investment in the future," said Geisler.

modernized student accommodation

The new school dormitory now offers space for 130 guys. 42 old three and four-bed rooms were redesigned into 55 comfortable twin rooms, each of which has their own bathroom. In addition, ten new rooms were created by the expansion of the attic, and four lounges invite you to relax.

Thomas Moritz, director of the LLA Imst, emphasizes the importance of the new accommodations: "Our students come from all over Tyrol - our dormitories are therefore essential for many people." The new premises not only promote comfort, but also the privacy, which enables an optimal combination of living and learning.

sustainability meets historical elements

A special feature of the renovation is the combination of modern facilities and historical elements. When renovating the roof structure, the old beams were uncovered, which are now integrated into the new rooms. This mixture is also shown in the main building: the new main entrance replaces the old passage and the cloakrooms in the vaulted cellar have been modernized.

The challenges in the conversion were primarily to reconcile modern standards with the historical substance. Gerhard Wastian, board member of the state department of the country, explains: "The usage requirements could be embedded in the historical structure, while the character of the ensemble has been preserved." Accessibility was also ensured by the installation of a lifts.

For sustainable heat supply, the entire education center will be heated with organic heating heat in the future. By replacing old lighting against efficient LED lamps, energy consumption can be significantly reduced. For this purpose, 80,000 meters of new cables were laid - a route reaches from the LLA Imst to the Zillertal.

In addition, the new student rooms are equipped with controlled living space ventilation that ensures good air quality. The classrooms in the main building also benefit from a modern ventilation system with heat recovery. Air measuring sensors ensure that the conditions in the classrooms are always optimal. "The automatic fresh air supply contributes to an ideal class climate and saves energy," adds Geisler.

Overall, developments at the LLA Imst embody a modern, future -oriented approach in the training of agricultural specialists in Tyrol, while the historical value of the building is preserved. For more information, See the report on www.tirol.gv.at .
