Spooky and fun: Kumberger monkfish delight at the Krampus run
Last weekend, Kumberg experienced a very special spectacle in which the Kumberg monkfish lived up to their name. The event was characterized by loud rock songs, impressive firework and scary costumes. Countless visitors, both young and old, were not only frightened but also thrilled. The Krampus Run captivated everyone and created an unforgettable atmosphere.
The creative staging of the eleven traditional groups caused quite a stir. Led by the chairman's eye-catching trike, the monkfish roamed the so-called Krampus Trail, creating eerie but also amusing moments. Things were a little milder in the children's zone: Here the scary characters showed that they are also up for happy interactions. They gave out high fives and candy, which made the little ones have a lot of fun. Santa Claus opened the event with his presence, which brightened the entire occasion with a touch of tradition.
The party after the run
After the impressive “lattice thunderstorm” of the Seeteufel, the celebration continued in the Seecafè with an after-show party, where the band MIR4 provided musical entertainment. This type of celebration brings the community together and keeps visitors raving about the adventures of the sea-fearing creatures for a long time.
The Kumberger Seeteufel are a fairly young traditional group that was founded in autumn 2013. Their goal from the beginning was to preserve the tradition of “expelling evil spirits” and to pass this custom on to the young. With now over 20 committed members, the monkfish have become a fixture in the customs scene. Their performances are characterized by an impressive show element, which includes not only the Perchten but also angels and other mystical figures.
Further dates
The Kumberger Seeteufel have numerous performances planned in the coming period. They can be seen in Gutenberg on November 29th, followed by an event in Mitterdorf on November 30th. On December 1st they perform in Wildon, and from December 4th to 6th they visit various households to continue the spooky goings-on.
