Neunkirchen polar bears secure silver at the national championships
The Neunkirchner stock athletes, known as the Eisbären, returned from the ASKÖ national championships in Weiz with great success. In an exciting competition in which a total of 13 men's teams from different parts of Austria took part, they secured the silver medal. The title was won by the strong players of ESV ASKÖ Tauchen from Burgenland.
In the exciting phase of the tournament, the Eisbären, consisting of Franz Gaulhofer, Stefan Weisz, Wolfgang Pusterhofer, Rudolf Puhr and Johann Hechtl, fought heartily for the podium until the end. After intense games, they managed to get 17 of the possible 24 points. This performance was apparently enough to secure second place, showing an excellent performance for the team and the region.
Placements and competition
The championship title went to the diving team with 19 points, which gave them a narrow lead over the Eisbären. Voitsberg completed the race for the medals, securing third place with 16 points, followed by the Styrian teams from Pernegg and Söding, who scored 15 and 13 points. While the Eisbären celebrated their silver medal, ESV Bad Fischau-Brunn took ninth place and was therefore unable to make it into the medal ranks.
This championship not only strengthened the Eisbären athletically, but also promoted team dynamics. Such successes increase interest in stock sports in the region and show how important the competitive spirit and teamwork within the team are. For the SG Pottschach/Neunkirchen players, it remains to be seen how they will fare in future competitions.
