Neunkirchen Eisbären secure silver at the federal championships
The Neunkirchner Stock athletes, known as the polar bears, returned with great success from the ASKÖ federal championships in Weiz. In an exciting competition in which a total of 13 men's teams from different parts of Austria took part, they secured the silver medal. The title was won by the strong players of the ESV ASKÖ diving from Burgenland.
In the exciting phase of the tournament, the polar bears, consisting of Franz Gaulhofer, Stefan Weisz, Wolfgang Pusterhofer, Rudolf Puhr and Johann Hechtl, fought for the podium until the end. After intensive games, they managed to get 17 of the possible 24 points. This performance was apparently enough to secure second place and thus show an excellent performance for the team and the region.
placements and competition
The championship title went to the team from diving with 19 points, which had a narrow lead over the polar bears. Voitsberg completed the race for the medals and secured third place with 16 points, followed by the Styrian teams from Pernegg and Söding, who scored 15 and 13 points. While the polar bears celebrated their silver medal, ESV Bad Fischau-Brunn took ninth place and could therefore not move into the medal ranks.
This championship not only strengthened the polar bears in terms of sport, but also promoted team dynamics. Such successes increase the interest in stock sport in the region and show how important the competition spirit and community work within the team are. For the players of SG Pottschach/Neunkirchen, it remains to be seen how they will be in future competitions.
