Ceremonial opening of the O Kelly Irish Dance Academy in Weiz
The O’Kelly Irish Dance Academy recently opened its new premises at Lederergasse 9 in Weiz, and it was duly celebrated. An evening full of music, dance and art attracted numerous guests, including prominent personalities such as Deputy Mayor Oswin Donnerer and former Mayor Erwin Eggenreich. The school principals Carmen Palensky and Philipp Gaber invited everyone present to experience this special moment together.
The band Brofaction gave the musical start, ringing in the celebrations with energetic sounds. Afterwards, the Academy's talented students showed off their impressive dances while preparing for the upcoming European Championships at the end of November. The audience was thrilled as the performers presented both traditional and modern Irish dances in new costumes created for the European Championships.
Cultural highlight
Particularly noteworthy was the unveiling of a mural created specifically for the Academy by artist Dominika Köck. This work of art was unveiled by Ukrainian students, underlining the Academy's international flair. The artist also exhibits her works in the foyer, which further enriches the event's artistic contribution.
In their speeches, Palensky and Gaber emphasized the importance of the new studios for the Academy and its community. They see the space as a creative center for dance enthusiasts of all ages, which will play an important role in the future.
