Life in the mountains: challenges and rewards in the Murtal

Life in the mountains has its own charm. When the sun disappears behind the Alps and the gentle hills dives in a warm light, the effort of the day often feels like a blessed wage. But everyday life at these altitudes, as can be found in the Murtal, is anything but easy. Matthias and Stephanie Ninaus have set themselves the task of documenting life in this rough but at the same time a beautiful environment.

The documentation illuminates the municipalities of St. Wolfgang am Zirbitzkogel, Perchau, Hohentauern, Krakow and Pusterwald. All of these places lie in the higher locations and offer a picture of a life that is not characterized by urban comfort. The residents have deliberately chosen these challenges - the strict conditions of nature shape their everyday life and bring both deprivation and great satisfaction.

The choice of lifestyle

The residents of the high -rays are people who have left the simple comfort of the cities behind to indulge in the genuine life in nature. This decision is both a conscious choice as well as an expression of strength and self -confidence. It requires strong will and a cleaning heart to defy the challenges of the weather and physics, to assert yourself and still enjoy life to the fullest.

st. Wolfgang am Zirbitzkogel, known for his breathtaking view, has a special fascination. In this small village with its warm residents, people experience how they can live in harmony with nature. Perchau and Hohentauern show what happens when modernization meets tradition. The balancing act between the desire for progress and the preservation of the old is a central topic in documentation.

  • Krakau: This community is a prime example of community spirit, where neighbors support each other and together master the challenges of mountain life.
  • Pusterwald: The connection between the residents to nature is noticeable. Traditions are held up and integrated into everyday life, which makes life particularly worth living here.

The documentation by Matthias and Stephanie Ninaus invites the audience on a trip to these unique regions. Here, where wind and weather are in charge, people experience how strong the influence of their environment can be on their lives. This not only reveals the beauty of nature, but also the diversity of human life and the different ways to find happiness.

These insights are not only a tribute to the regions of the Mur Valley, but also remind us that true happiness can often be found in the deprivation that life at altitudes brings. On November 20, 2024 at 5:05 p.m., the documentary "high above the Murtal" on ORF 3 will be shown. For more information See the current reporting at www.tele.at
