The Maxlaunmarkt in Niederwölz thrilled its visitors this Saturday, despite the cool temperatures. The annual event attracted both regulars and curious newcomers who wanted to experience the region's festive atmosphere and traditions first hand. Amid the festively decorated streets, the joy of the people was obvious as they pushed through the stalls and explored a variety of offerings.

This year the 488th Maxlaunmarkt was celebrated, which is now known beyond the country's borders. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the market enjoys a high reputation, which is also reflected in the lively interest of the many exhibitors and visitors. The atmosphere was lively and everyone involved seemed to be making the most of the weather conditions to make the most of the celebrations.

Opening of the market

The ceremonial opening of the 48th exhibition in the multi-purpose hall was particularly important. This was led by State Councilor Barbara Eibinger-Miedl and State Councilor Karlheinz Kornhäusl, as well as numerous guests of honor from politics and business. In addition to the presentation of awards, the opening ceremony also included the traditional beer tapping, during which a barrel of fresh Murau beer was tapped.

The Gruber carpentry workshop experienced an important surprise, whose owner Sissi Gruber was honored with an award. For the first time, the municipality of Niederwölz was also recognized as a “golden soil”, which symbolizes the special connection between the region and its economy.

A wide range for everyone

The market offered an impressive variety of stalls. From clothing to candy to toys, there was something for everyone. Particular attention was paid to the exhibitors in the Murtal region tent and the Niederwölzer exhibition, which gave visitors many insights into local products and services. The combination of trading and personal advice was highly valued, resulting in lively conversations.
