Shock in Gröbming: Fire brigade prevents major fire in the house
On Tuesday morning, the fire brigade in Gröbming had to demonstrate their skills when a fire broke out in a family home on Buchenweg. Shortly before 1:30 a.m., the fire brigades Gröbming and Gröbming-Winkl were alerted. Due to the Situation, operations manager Christian Sotlar decided to alert additional fire brigades from the Gröbming section and the aerial ladder from Schladming.
When the emergency services arrived, the attic of the house burned. To extinguish the flames, both an external extinguishing attack and an internal attack were started under heavy breathing protection. Fortunately, the couple who lived in the house could be brought to safety before the fire brigade arrived by a neighbor who is a section fire brigade doctor. Both remained unharmed.
efficient extinguishing measures
The seven fire departments were able to quickly achieve initial successes. The fire was under control within an hour, and shortly after 4 a.m. the operations management reported "fire". Thanks to the rapid measures, both parts of the house were saved and a spread of fire to neighboring buildings could be prevented.
In order to effectively extinguish the burning gable roof construction, it was necessary to manually cover a large part of the tiled roof. The situation was also complicated by a large photovoltaic system on the roof. The emergency services continuously carried out measurements with a thermal imaging camera from the aerial ladder and ensured lighting for the fire troops on the roof. A fire engine from the Gröbming fire brigade remains on site to keep a fire guard.
large contingent of emergency services
In total, seven fire departments as well as the police and the Red Cross were involved during the three -hour deployment. A total of 19 vehicles and around 90 people were involved in the rescue operation. This coordinated effort testifies to the high commitment of the fire brigade in the region.
