Great fire in Gröbming: Fire brigade saves family home from destruction
In the night from Monday to Tuesday, at 1:27 a.m., the fire brigade in Gröbming was alerted: The roof of a family home on Buchenweg had caught fire. When the first emergency services arrived, the residents, a couple, were luckily fled and unharmed. The fire engineer Sassan Lachini was the first to be at the scene and reported that he roped into a scene immediately after receiving the alarm.
The situation required a comprehensive reaction: five other fire departments were consulted, and a total of seven fire departments with around 90 emergency services and 19 vehicles were on site. The fire, which initially raged on the top floor, was combated with united forces. In order to master the flames, a large part of the roof had to be covered manually, which proved to be challenging, since a large photovoltaic system on the roof was also affected.

The Schladming fire brigade provided a turntable ladder with which continuous monitoring of the fire site was possible by thermal imaging cameras. The Prugern fire brigade took responsibility for the operations management and the establishment of a respiratory protection area. The targeted use of the weirs quickly had an effect: At 4:07 a.m., the operations management finally reported "fire". Thanks to the quick reaction, not only part of the house could be saved, but the fire was also prevented from spreading to neighboring buildings.
The exact cause of the fire is currently still unknown. The police will take over the investigation to find out what led to this fire. The situation was tense for the residents and the residents, but they were calmed down by the professional and quick work of the firefighters.
