Styrian talent honored: European prize for young musicians in Brussels

A remarkable event was recently celebrated in the heart of Brussels: The "Prima La Musica Europa Prize" was awarded to talented young musicians. The Styrian State Council for Europe, Werner Amon, presented this award in a solemn framework in the Styria house. The prize recognizes the excellent performance of artists who have already triumphed as part of the federal competition "Prima La Musica".

"With this award I would like to appreciate the extraordinary talents of our young musicians. It is important that we promote and support such talents," said Amon during the award ceremony. His vision is that every Styrian child is given the opportunity to learn an instrument. He called for the integration of music schools into the regular education system to ensure broader musical training.

The winners in detail

Among the excellent is Victoria Kandlhofer , a talented guitarist from Styria. She began her musical career at the Weiz music school and achieved remarkable successes, including the Brahms Award, which she won at the "Brahms Music Winter Festival". Their outstanding performance was rounded off in 2024 with the first prize in the national competition in Brixen.

Julius Legat , a passionate pianist from Graz, discovered the urge to music at a young age. With a strong support for his training at Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory, he won numerous prizes, including the main victory at "Prima La Musica". His next step takes him to the University of Music and Performing Art in Vienna, where he wants to further deepen his skills.

The third winner, Cäcilia Raab , began her singing lessons at the age of twelve. Her school career at the OberstufenRealgymnasium of the Vienna Boys' Choir enabled her to gain initial stage experiences. But her musical ambitions continue: she has been studying solo singing at the Graz University of Art since 2023 and has already received several awards in the “Prima La Musica” competition. In 2024 she became a federal winner in her age group.

This award is not only an honor for the outstanding achievements of the young talents, but also a signal for the importance of music promotion in Austria. Amon appealed to the national authorities to create the necessary framework to ensure that music schools and regular schools work more closely together to further strengthen musical education.

For the award winners and the musical scene in Styria, this is an important step that underlines the importance of music and artistic work. In the long run, such initiatives could help produce a new generation of musicians who are passion and talented.
