Scandal in Graz: FPÖ and ÖVP present new chaos program!
Today at 11 a.m. the new government program of the Freedom Party (FPÖ) and the People's Party (ÖVP) will be presented in Graz. According to a report by the crown Among other things, a documentation center for radical Islam is being set up. There are also strict measures against beggars. These changes follow a turbulent Monday in which the Styrian ÖVP hit the headlines due to internal conflicts and chaos within its own ranks - a scenario that was more likely to happen to the opposition SPÖ.
The FPÖ has in the past elections, such as courier reports, benefited significantly from the issues of immigration and dissatisfaction with the current political situation. Political scientist Peter Filzmaier emphasizes that the FPÖ not only won back voters, but was also able to mobilize former non-voters. It is particularly noteworthy that the FPÖ was able to win votes in rural areas that are traditionally dominated by the ÖVP, as many voters perceive a negative development in the political situation.
The effects of the Styrian election results on the federal coalition negotiations must nevertheless be viewed soberly. Filzmaier emphasizes that the coalition partners SPÖ, ÖVP and Neos should have been prepared for a bad result. However, the psychological pressure on government negotiators to deliver results quickly has increased, which could increase the dynamics within government coalitions. The competition for the votes of working people and seniors remains a challenge for the existing black-red coalition.
