Rapid escape ends in chaos: passenger injured, driver disappeared!

Two dramatic traffic accidents occurred in Graz in the late afternoon and evening, but thanks to the quick deployment of rescue workers, they did not end in an even more tragic manner. At around 5.30 p.m. a police patrol wanted to carry out a traffic check on a Mercedes on the station belt. However, instead of stopping, the driver fled at excessive speed along Kärntner Straße and on to Kapellenstraße. There the 20-year-old man, apparently with roots in the Russian Federation and living in Graz, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree. While his 18-year-old passenger, who was apparently not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the LKH Graz, the driver left him behind and fled the scene of the accident on foot. 15 emergency services from the Graz professional fire department had to rescue the car and secure the scene of the accident. During the search of the vehicle, the police also found drugs, cash and cell phones, which are now the subject of further investigations, as [5min.at] reported.
