New glimmer: transitional apartments strengthen women after experiences
In Graz, an important step was taken to support women in emergency situations. Mayor Elke Kahr visited a newly renovated transition apartment that is part of a new project, which is supposed to help former residents of women's shelters, to integrate back into everyday life. "These apartments are the key to the fact that many women can take a fresh start in the women's shelter after their time," said Kahr, visibly touched by the positive development. The apartment from 2012 has been completely overtaken and now offers modern living comfort that was previously not available.
This initiative is borne by close cooperation between the federal, state and city. Doris Kampus , the social councilor, underlined the importance of such projects at the event: "It is of the greatest importance that we work together as a society to improve violence for women and children in our region." Michaela Gosch , the managing director of the Association of Frauenhäuser Styria, also emphasized the positive developments in Styria. She pointed out that many of these support offers in other countries, such as the German Freiburg, are not a matter of course.
a strong network for help
The close networking between politics, administration and social institutions enables tailor -made help. "Help is a right," says Kahr, Kampus and Gosch's unanimous opinion. Through this coordinated approach, women and children who are affected by violence can receive the support they urgently need. The operational readiness of everyone involved has contributed to the creation of an extensive system that not only offers living space, but also psychosocial support.
The renovation of the transitional apartments is an example of progress that Graz makes in combating domestic violence. Mayor Kahr, who spoke of a personal incident that took place in the new apartment, wants such places not only offer protection, but also the opportunity to realign and self -discovering. The initiatives have to be expanded to cover the increasing need, and Graz is on the right track to accept such challenges.
These developments show that in Graz you are actively concerned with improving the living conditions of women and children who have experienced violence. The creation of such apartments is not only a material gesture, but also a sign of change in social responsibility.
