Music Theater Prize 2025: Linz Landestheater, The strong contender!
Heumarkt, 1010 Wien, Österreich - Salzburg and Vienna are in the competition for the renowned Austrian music theater award 2025. The award, which was launched by Karl-Michael Ebner in 2012, recognizes outstanding achievements in the opera and theater houses as well as music festivals in Austria. The nominations include a total of 63 submissions in 15 categories, with the Linz State Theater with five nominations at the top. The Vienna State Opera, the Volksoper, the Graz Opera and the Stadttheater Klagenfurt have also shown strong support with four nominations. This is reported by the Kleine Zeitung .
The nominations and the ultimate winners are determined by a media jury. The categories range from "best opera production" to "best offspring". In the "Best Opera Production" section, impressive works are nominated, including "The Idiot", "Il Canto S’Attrista, Perché?" as well as "love for the three oranges". The gala for the awarding of the Austrian Music Theater Prize 2025 will take place on September 17, 2025 at 7 p.m. in the tent of the Roncalli Circus Theater on Heumarkt. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the prize, a new illustrated book is published that records significant personalities and moments of recent years. The illustrated book, whose proceeds will benefit the free music theater productions that were financially burdened during the pandemic, costs 29.90 euros.
