Graz awakens in winter magic: a snow for the state capital
In the night from Thursday to Friday, November 22nd, the Styrian state capital Graz turned into a winter scenery that shone in the first light of the morning. Snow fell overnight, and numerous residents were enthusiastic about the sight when they looked out of the window on Friday morning.
As already announced in the weather forecast, Graz showed himself in a white winter dress that turned the city into a picturesque setting. The downtown Graz also got a whole new face due to the snowfall. From parked cars to the trees in the city park - everything was covered with a fine layer and looked like a winter fairy tale.
weather forecasts and current conditions
The initial prediction of geosphere was confirmed. "Early in the morning there is still a little snow in Styria, even in the southeast there should be a thin blanket of snow," meteorologist Andreas Mansberger had already explained on Thursday. Even if the snowfall already subsided on Friday morning, the white splendor remained that adorned the landscape of the city and its surroundings.
The weather experts reported that the snow would melt again in the next few hours. "The clouds loosen up and make room for the sun at the latest at the latest," said Mansberger, pointing out that cold temperatures would shape the day. While the north can sometimes count on permanent frost, no more than four degrees Celsius are expected in southern Styria.
snow also in other Austrian regions
The winter conditions were not limited to Graz. Snow also fell in other parts of Austria, which raised the mood of many people. However, the snowfall had to develop in some places, because at the beginning in the lowlands there was partial rain, which later passed into snow. Details on the amounts of fresh snow show that up to ten centimeters of snow were expected in the regions on the border with Slovenia.
"In contrast, there will be less snow in Upper Styria, here we expect a maximum of three centimeters," said the meteorologist on Thursday. Such different values often depend on the geographical location. Graz, known for his mild climate, was therefore a welcome surprise for many who have never experienced snow in the city. Graphics and statistics of the amounts of fresh snow show the areas where the precipitation was particularly strong and draw a picture of a winter Austria.
Although the snow could possibly affect everyday life, many Grazers enjoy the winter atmosphere that the snow brings with it. Further details can be found on www.5min.at
