GAK looking for a coach: Who will bring a breath of fresh air to the Red Devils?
After the surprising sacking of coach Rene Poms, the Austrian Bundesliga club GAK is facing a big challenge. The separation was officially announced on Friday morning after the first rumors had already made the rounds on Thursday. The last conversation between Poms, assistant coach Dino Skvorc and sports director Didi Elsneg took place in the training center in Graz. After only 14 minutes, Poms hissed away without saying a word. This decision follows a disappointing 12-match record in which Poms managed just 3 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats Small newspaper reported.
Change of coach and search for a successor
The GAK's sporting leadership, including sports director Dieter Elsneg and technical director Tino Wawra, is already looking for a new coach. The priority now is to “provide new impetus” to save the team from relegation in the next ten crucial games. The club urgently needs a successor, someone who can quickly motivate the players and inspire them to new achievements. Candidates like Werner Gregoritsch, Ferdinand Feldhofer or even the return of Gernot Messner are up for discussion. Michael Liendl from the GAK Amateurs is also being considered as a short-term solution. The crown noted that those responsible are called upon to act as quickly as possible.
In addition to the coaching changes, a change in the management of the GAK is also expected. Long-time managing director and finance director Harald Hochleitner will be leaving the club in the near future, but this is not related to Poms' departure. The GAK is facing upheaval that requires fundamental decisions to secure the future of the club.
