10 years of Hoke workshop: Art that sparks the fire of creativity!
Schloss Saager, Österreich - In the Hoke workshop at Saager Castle, an artistic heritage has been kept alive since 2015! Former pupils and employees of the legendary Giselbert Hoke continue his method of unfortunate painting. In the large workshop, equipped with painting boards, artists work every day under guidance to keep the creative flame alive.
The current exhibition in the architecture house shows the impressive results of three weeks of intensive painting. Christa Binder, Giselbert Hoke's widow, explains: "We call it constructive abstract painting." Hoke, who taught at the TU Graz, always attached importance to the basic elements of painting: lines, colored areas and monochromy. These principles form the foundation for the works that are created in the workshop - non -objective images that stand for themselves.
a creative space without limits
Ernst Roth, once Hoke's student, describes the freedom that the workshop offers: "You stand in front of an empty sheet of paper, without external influence." This creative unboundness attracts artists from all corners. For a decade, they have come together in the summer months to learn and pass on innovative techniques. "Art is a fire that never goes out," said Hoke in an interview, and that is exactly what is celebrated in the workshop.
The exhibition "10 Years of Hoke-Werkhaus" can still be seen in the Klagenfurt architecture house until December 21. An extensive catalog documents the work of the current year. The participating artists, including names such as Maria Beykirch, Astrid Bodner and Georg Friedl, impressively show how Hoke's spirit lives on in their works. Not only art is created here, but also a lively heritage!
