Robbery gang surprised: police hold four suspects in Graz

In a sensational case of theft and fraud, the police in Seiersberg were able to arrest four suspects who are suspected of having brought a 67-year-old person by over 32,000 euros. The incident had its origin in a restaurant in downtown Graz, where the older gentleman was stolen a mobile phone and his ATM card. The crime occurred a few weeks ago, and the injured party already filed a complaint with the police in early September 2024.

After the theft, which was extremely painful for the 67-year-old, there were several unauthorized money withdrawals and transfers caused by the enormous damage. The police then fell into action and started extensive investigations to convict the perpetrators.

Investigations and evidence of evidence

In the context of these investigations, important evidence was secured. In particular, the officials found monitoring recordings of a banking institute, in which two previously unknown perpetrators were seen when using the stolen ATM card. Another turn in the case resulted when a 43-year-old Hungarian was identified as one of the suspects. However, there were unsuccessful attempts to question him and his 26-year-old partner in her apartment in Graz.

However, the investigators managed to take further suspicions and to determine two other suspects. It is a Romanian couple, 36 and 37 years old, which is also part of the criminal event. According to the investigation, these women are said to have stolen the ATM card and passed on to their partners after the illegal withdrawals. They are also accused of having carried out another illegal transfer to the 26-year-old's account.

arrests and evidence

Although the evidence seems overwhelming, the arrested were not confessed during their surveys. They claimed that the 67-year-old "gave them" both the mobile phone and the ATM card including PIN code. All suspects are currently in custody in the Graz-Jakomini prison, while the police and the judiciary continue to work on the investigation.

The case throws light on the importance of security measures and vigilance, especially in public places where theft and fraud unfortunately occur frequently. For further information on this exciting case and the latest developments, See the current report www.meinbezirk.at .
