City financial situation: Eber calls Sparbudget chronically in the minus

The current financial situation of the city of Graz is critical, as Financial City Councilor Manfred Eber (KPÖ) explained in a latest statement. With the publication of budgets for 2025 and 2026, it becomes clear that the city is "financed but not balanced". This means that the financial resources are available, but the ongoing expenditure exceeds the income significantly.

The operational balance, i.e. the difference between income and expenditure without taking investments into account, shows a worrying development. With a chronically difficult deficit, the financial situation is not sustainable in the long term. On December 12th, the estimate in the municipal council will be decided - with the support of the coalition partner KPÖ, Greens and Spö.

estimate 2025 and 2026

The two savings budgets for the coming years were created based on the current economic framework. Despite high expenses and falling income, the focus remains on the need to find sustainable solutions. A compensation for the numbers is not in sight, which leads to growing concerns among the city councilors. These precarious financial conditions could have far -reaching consequences for future projects that rely on investments.

The financial challenges are so serious that readers already demand precise measures in order to counteract the existing challenges. In view of the situation described, the city council must develop innovative and sustainable solutions in order to maintain the financial stability of the city and to counteract the deficit.
